Arrows1 Miss play-offs by 1 game (20/08/06)
The
Arrows 1st team went into this weekends double header needing
to win both games against Richmond Knights to progress to the Premier
League Final 4. The 1st game went to plan with Essex running
out winners 9-6, but missed out by the smallest of margins losing the last
game 4-3 meaning that Richmond took the final position along with
Cambridge Monarchs. Arrows
season is now complete finishing the season in 4th place in the
table with 9 wins and 11 loses 3 and a half games behind winners Cambridge Arrows1 Drop again to National League opposition (06/08/06)
The
Arrows 1st team again had the chance to test themselves against
National League opposition, this time against Richmond Flames. After 6
innings Essex were looking like posting a respectable lose, but completely
fell apart in the 7th conceding a further 14 runs to finally
lose 23-4 Arrows1 Fall short twice against league leaders (30/07/06) The Arrows 1st team had the chance to make up ground on league leaders Cambridge Monarchs, but fell short in both games losing the 1st game narrowly 9-7 and going down in extra innings in the 2nd game 15-10 Arrows1 Split make up games (23/07/06) The Arrows 1st team could not fully get themselves back into winning ways when they made up the 2 rained of games against Croydon losing the 1st game 4-3 after leading 3-1 going into the last inning, then finally finding the real Arrows for the 2nd game winning comfortably 13-3. This weekend sees the 1st team take on top of the table Cambridge Monarchs, in what surely must be a make or break 2 game series if they are to make the end of season Final 4 Arrows1 come up short against National league Bracknell (16/07/06) The Arrows 1st team again lost out when matched up against National league opposition, this time losing 7-3 to Bracknell
Arrows2 drop from league (05/07/06) The
Arrows 2nd team have reluctantly contacted BSUK and advised them that with
immediate effect they are withdrawing from the league, this is hoped to
only be until the end of this season and it is hoped that they will return
next season with a renewed vigour. The decision was made due to the fact
that it is becoming harder each week to field a full 9 players so the
management team made the decision to regroup. They will be looking to
recruit a few new faces and hopefully organise a couple of friendlys
before the end of the season, if you would like to get involved or are
from a team that would like to organise a friendly please contact Darren
Ludlow via our contacts page Arrows1 lose ground to closest rivals (02/07/06) The
Arrows 1st team lost ground to their rivals Sunday losing both
games of a double header to Oxford Kings, losing the 1st game
1-0 and the 2nd 7-6. The
2nd team held the league leaders close for 4 innings but lost
out in the end and all this with only 8 players. Arrows1drop sloppy game to Croydon (25/06/06)
The Arrows 1st team got another chance to test how far they had progressed over the past few years, with another interleague game, this time against last years National League Champions Croydon Pirates. unfortunately a lot of gimme runs were allowed and the pirates were comfortable 20 - 6 winners. The 2nd team again found themselves without a game, this time due to no fixture Arrows2 change management (20/06/06) Following Sundays game Arrows2 manager John Abram has reluctantly decided to resign as manager, his position has been taken up by 2 players Darren Ludlow and Jeff Summers with immediate effect. John will still remain in his role as club physio. everyone at the club would like to thank John for his work in the 1st half of the season. Arrows2 lose in epic battle (18/06/06) With the Arrows 1st team having a weekend off, all eyes fell on the 2nd teams game at home to Richmond Dragons, after a closely won 40+ run game in the last meeting arrows2 were expecting a very similar game, it certainly lived up to it's billing but unfortunately the final score did not favour the home team with a final score of 25 - 23. This weekend sees roles reversed with the 2nd team having a blank weekend and the 1st team having a tough test, this weekend sees the top 2 teams from the Premier League (South) both playing a game against National League (South) Champions and current leaders Croydon Pirates, both games are hosted at our Essex ground with our game 1st, starting at 12:00. Arrows1 ease past Herts., Arrows2 game postponed (11/06/06) The arrows 1st team, toiled and worked hard under the beautiful summers sun, and dug out 2 more wins this week against Herts. Falcons 1st team, winning the 1st game 9 - 4 and coming back from 11 -2 down in the 2nd to win 14 - 12, this weekend saw one of the new members, Edwin Alcantara hitting his 1st Homerun for the club and Dave Jesshop making a creditable step up from the 2nd team. Arrows2 again found themselves kicking their heels without a game, this due to their hosts Bournemouth being unable to field a team due to local commitments. This weekend sees the 1st team having a weekend off and the 2nd team hoping to get back to some baseball hosting Richmond Dragons.
Arrows1 struggle but take 2, Arrows2 game postponed (04/06/06) The Arrows 1st team, although making hard work of it, won both their games Sunday. both games were won with solid come from behind 7th innings against Sidewinders, winning the 1st game 11 - 12 and the 2nd game 13 - 14, those 2 wins take them to a 7 and 2 record and with the Cambridge Monarchs not playing they move to top of the table. Arrows2 again found themselves short of players and Burgess Hill have agreed to play the game at a later date Arrows1 get shock result at Brighton (28/05/06) The Arrows 1st team got back to baseball following a weekend where both teams were rained out, they travelled to National League South side Brighton and came away with an impressive upset win 7 - 3, the 2nd team hosted a friendly against Medway Mariners and with a depleted team lost heavily (Thanks must go to Medway for travelling round and lending some players to ensure the game went ahead with a number of arrows2 regulars missing through injury and prior engagements)
Arrows1 Split Doubleheader and Arrows2 Drop To Southampton (14/05/06) The Arrows 1st team split their doubleheader with Shropshire Panthers Sunday, losing the 1st game 8-7, then winning the 2nd game 14-3, meanwhile on the south coast Arrows 2nd team lost their game 17-2 to Southampton Mustangs (reports to follow)
Both Teams get down to baseball (finally) (07/05/06) Sunday saw both arrows teams in action for the 1st time this season, Arrows1 splitting a double header with Windsor Bears and Arrows2 holding on for their 1st win of the season at Richmond Dragons (Reports to follow)
Arrows2 take tough loss against Falcons2 (30/04/06) On Sunday the 2nd team dropped their 2nd game of the season 24 - 15 to local rivals Herts. Falcons2, despite the score line there was some good baseball played by the arrows and with a few more breaks they could have turned the score around (full report to follow)
Season Starts with More Than 1 Damp Squib (24/04/06) The season got of to a damp squib in more than 1 way this past weekend, not only did the weather do it's best to ruin the start of the season, but Cambridge's 2nd team did the same by forfeiting their double header with Arrows 1 on Saturday (Arrows claim 2 7-0 wins), However the weather (although it tried) did not stop the 2nd teams game with Burgess Hill, unfortunately the score was not that of what was hoped for with the final score being 20 - 10 after 7 innings (slaughter rule) full report to follow
