The Arrows hosted table topping London Mets, but were unable to pull off any shocks, losing the 1st game 10-0 and the 2nd 9-6 (BBF report here). The Archers traveled to Pool A Windsor Bears needing just 1 win to secure a birth in the 2010 AA play-offs, neither game turned out to be easy affairs with the Bears pushing strongly in both games, but The Archers fought hard to book their play-off place, winning the 1st game 14-10 and the 2nd 23-12. This week sees The Arrows travel to South London to take on the Croydon Pirates in a double header, 1st game starts at 12:00. The Archers travel the short distance to Enfield to face The Sidewinders, although this was originally a single 9 inning game away, with the postponement of the home fixture earlier in the season, that game will now make the 2nd game in a double header with both teams taking it in turns to be the home team, 1st game starts at 12:00
The Arrows made the long trip to Southampton and returned empty handed after suffering 2 more defeats to the Mustangs, losing the 1st game 5-3 and the 2nd 12-6 (BBF report here). The Archers hosted Pool B bottom team Brentwood Stags and ran out comfortable 28-10 winners. This week sees The Arrows host table topping London Mets in a double header, 1st game starts at 12:00. The Archers travel to face the Windsor Bears again in a double header starting at 12:00

The Arrows traveled to Croydon to take part in the 2nd NBL festival playing their other home fixture against the Herts Falcons, unfortunately they were not able to keep as close as the previous meeting ending up with an 18-6 loss (BBF report here). The Archers hosted Pool A Croydon III in a double header, the 1st game was not The Archers best efforts with fielding making 8 errors but managed to keep the scoreboard ticking over with patient walks and timely hitting, ending up 27-11 winners, in game 2 it was all about the new found accurate gun or Aaron "Pob" Sneesby, who pitched all 5 innings, allowing only 2 hits no earned runs with 7 walks and 12 strike outs in an 11-1 win. This weekend sees a blank league fixture list, but a joint Arrows/Archers team will be taking part in the annual Croydon Tournament

At the Waltham Abbey Town Show, Baseball took centre stage on Sunday at 12pm when the new improved facility at Townmead Leisure park was officially opened by Waltham Abbey mayor, Ricki Gadsby who was accompanied by MP for Epping Forest Eleanor Laing, Waltham Abbey Town Clerk, Kathryn Richmond, Councilor, Syd Stavrou and leader of the council, Stuart Pryde. Members of the community came out to witness the ceremony which included a speech by Eleanor Laing and then Ricki Gadsby cut the red ribbon on one of the two new brick dugouts at the baseball field to officially open the new facility. In game 1 the Arrows got off to a slow start, but fought back to record a 10-6 win, after a short break to watch the National football teams demise, both teams returned to the field for game 2 which Croydon held on to win 12-6 (Full report here). The Archers double header on the Saturday unfortunately had to be cancelled due to Thames Valley being unable to field a team, with the Archers adding to their win column with 2 7-0 wins. This weekend sees the 2nd of the BBF's NBL Summer Classics, this time being hosted by Croydon Pirates again all 8 National League Teams will be in attendance on Sat 3rd July, The Arrows again are the home team against Herts Falcons in a 9 inning game with 1st pitch @ 12:00. On Sun 4th July The Archers host Croydon III in a Double header 1st game starts @ 12:00

Sunday 27th June saw the grand opening of all the new facilities that have been added to the Townmead field this season, including 2 new brick built dugouts, 2 grandstands with a total of 150 seats, a new batting cage and a large metal container so that all the equipment can be stored next tot he ground

The Arrows faced off against the 2009 National Champions Bracknell Blazers and although they again showed improvement ultimately were no match for them dropping both games 15-2 & 10-2 (BBF Report). The Archers made the short trip to their near neighbors The Herts Hawks and put in a very professional display and ran out 25-9 winners. This weekend is the Waltham Abbey Town Show, The Archers play in a double header on Saturday against Thames Valley, 1st pitch 12:00, with the Arrows playing the Sunday in a bottom of the table shoot out double header against Croydon Pirates, 1st pitch is 12:00. for full details of the Town show see HERE

The Arrows made history this past weekend, when they traveled to face the Mildenhall Bulldogs and recorded their 1st ever win in the NBL and followed it up with their 2nd to take both games in the doubleheader 1-0 and 8-4. The Archers playing their 1st ever double header in the recent history started off well taking away Poole Piranhas perfect start to the 2010 season winning game 1 in dramatic action which saw them come back to record an 8-6 win, unfortunately they were unable to continue this in the 2nd game when they came up against some outstanding pitching from the Piranhas starter and ended up losing the game 13-5. This weekend sees The Arrows return home and face high flying Bracknell Blazers in a double header, 1st pitch 12:00, meanwhile the Archers make the short trip to Herts Hawks 1st pitch is 16:00

At this weekends inaugural National League all team meet at Herts ground to officially open their 2nd diamond, the Arrows put on a show worthy of the 1st National league game to grace the new facility, but came up just short in a 12-11 game (The BBF's report can be found HERE), the game also saw heroics from 1st baseman Dave Shaer who after trying to field a ground ball with his face in the middle of the game remained and completed the whole 9 innings and represented the tieing run but was thrown out at home to make the 2nd out in the bottom of the 9th inning. Sunday saw the Archers in a rematch of their last game they managed to play and they hosted the Richmond Knights, but again found that the "AA" League has some really hard teams to beat, with the final score being 19-7. This weekend sees both teams return to Sunday games, The Arrows travel up to the RAF base at Feltwell to face the Mildenhall Bulldogs in a double header, 1st pitch 12:00, meanwhile the Archers face Poole Piranhas also in a double header again 1st pitch is 12:00

Sunday saw a very spirited performance over both games again come to nothing, when The Arrows faced Richmond Flames for a double header, the 1st 2 innings of game 1 saw some shaky fielding from the home team and the visitors raced to a 6-0 lead, but then the game turned into a pitching duel with Richmond ending up 9-0 winners. Game 2 again saw The Arrows struggle with the bat and fail to capitalise on any on base runners until they entered the 5th inning 12-0 down, they did finally manage to plate 2 runs but ran out of outs and the game ended 12-2 on the slaughter rule. The Archers found themselves without a game again Sunday with their opponents Horsham informing manager Darren Ludlow late Saturday that they could not raise a team, so the Archers have taken 2 forfeit wins and move on to a 4-1 record. This bank holiday weekend is a rain date so both teams have a blank Sunday. the following week sees The Arrows travel to Hemel Hempstead where they face Herts Falcons on the Saturday (5th June), the day sees the 1st of the BBF's special game days with all 8 National League teams playing 4 games on 2 diamonds, the 1st games are at 2pm with the Arrows game getting underway at 5:30pm. Sunday 6th June sees The Archers play their return game against Richmond Knights @ Townmead in a 9 inning game starting at 12:00

This last 2 weeks has seen signs of improvement in the Arrows but unfortunately they have dropped 4 more games with 2 defeats to Southampton on May 9th 19-7 & 9-4 and then 2 losses to high flying London 10-6 & 19-9 on May 16th, also on that Sunday the Archers got back to playing when they traveled to Richmond Knights and with a couple of key absences took their 1st loss of the season 25-2.
Looking forward to this Sunday, the Arrows entertain Richmond Knights at Townmead, while the Archers travel to Brighton to face the newly formed Horsham Hurricanes in their 1st ever double header

Sunday saw both The Arrows and The Archers games fall foul of the bank holiday weather, this Sunday The Arrows return to Townmead to face Southampton, this week is an off week for The Archers, who do not play again until 16th May
Sunday saw the Arrows travel to Bracknell hoping to get their season started, but although their bats started to show some life, they ultimately dropped both games, losing game1 14-4 and losing game 2 22-6 (report to follow), The Archers in their home opener welcomed their near neighbors the Herts Hawks and with some high quality infielding and timely hitting dispatched them with a score line of 17-7 on the 10 run slaughter rule in 7 innings (report to follow). This Sunday the Arrows travel for a double header @ Croydon Pirates, whilst the Archers have a tough home game against "AAA" relegated The Sidewinders, both games start at 12:00

After a long off season and a pre-season dogged by the weather, with all training and friendly games out of the way, all eyes now turn to Sunday for the start of the 2010 season. The Archers playing their 1st season in the AA South League, travel to an old foe in the Brentwood Stags for a 9 inning game starting @ 12:00. The Arrows starting their 1st ever season in the BBF NBL start with a home opener against another newly promoted team in the Mildenhall Bulldogs in a double header with 1st pitch at 12:00, following a lot of off field movement in the off season as well, the club will be debuting our new dugouts and 2 new grandstands (pictures and story to follow) to make viewing the games a more comfortable experience, so please come down to Townmead and cheer on the guys.

Following on from the successes of last year, the Essex Archers, will step up a league in 2010. The Archers will compete for the first time in the BBF’s AA league and will play against established AA sides such as the Brentwood Stags, Herts Hawks, Thames Valley Bisons and the Windsor Bears.
Manager Darren ‘El Jefe’ Ludlow ’s Archers side reached the postseason in 2009 reaching the Final Four series final losing out narrowly to the Leicester Blue Sox.
Already in the midst of a grueling Spring training program, the Archers are gearing up for the challenges of AA baseball.
2010 looks to be an exciting and promising year for the Essex Arrows Baseball Club with both adult teams stepping up a level.

It was confirmed at the recent Essex Arrows Baseball Club AGM that Arrows 2009 manager, Luis Castro is not able to continue managing the team and has therefore stepped down to make way for returning manager, Phil Chesterton. Phil was responsible for founding the club back in 1984 and has managed for at least 18 out of the last 26 seasons taking the Arrows from the old third division up to the 1994 National Division (South) Champions and then winning the National League with the Arrows youth team in 2003. Taking the Arrows to the 2006 semi finals and the 2007 finals of the Premier Division Final 4 Championships, Phil Chesterton brings many years of hard earned experience back to the team and will be doing his absolute best to ensure that the Arrows make their mark in the National League for the 2010 season and hopefully beyond!
The BBF recently announce that they are expanding the National League (Their top division) in the south of the UK for the 2010 season from 5 teams to 8, with the 3 new places they have invited our top team the Arrows to take up one of them. which has been eagerly accepted by Arrows Manager Luis Castro. Along with the Arrows invites have been taken up by Mildenhall Bulldogs and Southampton Mustangs and these 3 teams will join London Mets, Herts Falcons, Richmond Flames, Croydon Pirates and 2009 National Champions Bracknell Blazers to form the 2010 National League, more info on this story can be found at aboutmyarea and the main BBF Newsboard
